Sukuselvitys.fi is an online service through which the customer can order a genealogy report (sukuselvitys) required for estate inventory (perunkirjoitus). The service includes:
The service does not include legal advice or preparation of the estate inventory document.
Orders are placed via the online form at sukuselvitys.fi. The order is binding once the customer has paid the service fee and received an order confirmation by email. Confirmation is sent immediately by email.
The person ordering must be entitled to order a genealogy report, i.e. a co-owner of the estate (heir, surviving spouse, or universal legatee) or an authorised representative.
| Fee | Price | When invoiced |
|---|---|---|
| Service fee | €79.00 | At the time of ordering |
| Postal delivery (optional) | €10.00 | At the time of ordering |
| Authority fees (EVL, DVV, National Archives, Orthodox Church, Skatteverket, Swedish National Archives) | Varies | Invoiced to the orderer when the completed genealogy report is delivered |
The service fee includes VAT at 25.5%. Authority fees for official certificates, genealogy records and other documents are invoiced to the orderer in full on a separate invoice when the completed genealogy report is delivered. No mark-up or handling fee is added to the authority fees. The fees are based on actual costs, exactly the same as if the orderer had obtained the documents directly from the authorities. Authority fees cannot be confirmed in advance, as their amount depends on how many registers are needed in each case. The orderer accepts this billing arrangement when placing the order.
The orderer is ultimately responsible for the authority fees. While authority fees can typically be reimbursed from the estate's assets via the deceased's bank, the orderer is legally liable for settling them with Sukuselvitys.fi. If the estate has insufficient funds, the bank refuses to pay the invoice, or payment is delayed, the orderer is personally liable for the authority fees. The due date of the authority fee invoice is 14 days from the invoice date.
Both the service fee and the authority fees are deductible for inheritance tax purposes. We provide instructions for sending the authority fee invoice to the deceased's bank for payment. The service fee is reimbursable from the estate's assets after probate.
Paytrail Plc acts as a collecting payment service provider and is an authorised payment institution. Paytrail Plc will be shown as the recipient on your bank or credit card statement and will forward the payment to the merchant. For complaints, please contact the website where the payment was made.

Delivery time depends on the authorities' processing times, which we cannot influence. Typical processing times:
We deliver the genealogy report to your email as soon as all documents have arrived and been verified. We do not hold documents. Delivery happens immediately after verification.
Consumer customers have a 14-day right of withdrawal under the Consumer Protection Act, Chapter 6. The withdrawal period begins from the moment the contract is concluded. The order can be cancelled free of charge as long as it has not yet been submitted to the authorities for processing, in practice usually within 1–2 business days of ordering.
The right of withdrawal lapses once the order has been submitted to the authorities for processing, or once the service has been fully performed. Authority orders are initiated immediately upon receipt of the order, so in practice the withdrawal period is very short.
In the order form, the customer has explicitly requested via a separate checkbox that the service begins immediately, and consented to losing the right of withdrawal once the service is fully performed.
Authority fees are invoiced to the orderer when the completed genealogy report is delivered. For questions about the fee schedules of individual authorities, contact the relevant authority directly (EVL, DVV, National Archives, Orthodox Church, Skatteverket or Swedish National Archives).
Withdrawal notice must be sent promptly by email to asiakaspalvelu@sukuselvitys.fi. State your name and order number. If cancellation is still possible, we will refund the service fee (€79) within 14 days.

We are not responsible for the authorities' processing delays or the content of documents delivered by the authorities. We verify the documents upon arrival, but responsibility for the adequacy of the genealogy report for estate inventory lies with the orderer and the person conducting the inventory.
Our liability is limited to the amount of the service fee paid (€79) to the extent permitted by mandatory legislation (in particular the Consumer Protection Act). This limitation does not apply to damage caused by intentional conduct or gross negligence.
These terms are governed by Finnish law. Disputes involving consumer customers may be referred to the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi). Before filing a complaint, we ask you to contact our customer service.
We respond to emails within 1–2 business days.
